Opening New Doors

Lately, in ISM, it has been difficult to find the contact information of neurologists to potentially interview and be mentored by. When I do find contact information, many times I do not receive communication back from them. While this has been a struggle, I have found ways to make it possible for me to move forward in ISM.
I have started to consider other fields of study and careers within medicine. Since it is difficult to make progress in the field of neurology, broadening the fields I am searching in may help. I am considering general practitioners, hospitalists, cardiologists, and more. My main goal has been to get experience in the field of medicine, so I am willing to compromise.
It has been especially to get interviews and possible mentorships due to COVID-19. Many doctors are already overwhelmed and busy due to treating the virus, testing patients for the virus, and the fear of spreading or contracting the virus. This has made it harder to receive face-to-face meetings and interviews. We are all also unsure how the rest of the year will look, and how much contact we will be able to have with our mentors.
However, I am trying to make the best of the situation and take advantage of the possibilities the virtual world provides. It is possible I may be able to fit in more interviews without the hassle of a commute. Maybe I can contact more professionals than just from the DFW area. The pandemic has caused a completely new ISM situation, but there are definitely some things we can take advantage of.
